More Racism From The Tennessee GOP

It’s only been six months since Tennessee’s Chip Saltman was taken to the woodshed for his Christmas CD that included the racist ditty “Barack the Magic Negro,” which cost him a shot at the chairman’s position for the Republican National Committee.

What short memories Tennessee Republicans seem to have.

On Monday, Sherri Goforth, a legislative aide for Republican state Sen. Diane Black, admitted sending a racist e-mail about President Barack Obama to staff for other Republican state senators. The e-mail, which was sent last month, included a collage of photographs of all U.S. presidents, except Obama, who is depicted with white eyes on a black background.

Goforth, a 20-year state employee, has admitted sending the e-mail from her state computer, a policy violation, and Black has said Goforth was verbally reprimanded and got a written reprimand in her personnel file. Black said she consulted with state human resources staff and noted that Goforth has a good record.

Democrat Rep. Johnny Shaw of Bolivar and Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Chip Forrester are calling for Goforth to be fired. We agree. Goforth should have been sent packing as soon as Black learned of the e-mail.

This kind of racist behavior is divisive and disrespectful to the president and damaging to the state’s reputation. Keeping Goforth is tacit approval of her actions.

True story.  Happenened in the 70’s when I was a teenager.  At that time my best friend was a black guy.  We ran around all the time.  In my community, probably as a result, at that time, of times past, the blacks lived in one area, the whites in another.  Not that way now.

Anyway, every summer his cousins from N.Y. would come down for the summer.  This guy and I played softball and one evening I took him home to pick up his gear.  His cousins (very attractive I might add)from N.Y. were there in the street waiting with me for him with the radio on, blairing.  Guess what came on?  Play that Funky Music White Boy.  Trust me.  These girls played that to the limit.  All clean.  My buddy came out and saw what was happening and laughed his butt off.

Point of this story is,  We are all in this life together and are the same, period.  We enjoy the same things, see the same things and have to put up with the same things.  Gotta have a sense of humor and shrug things that are unimportant off.

By the way Sissy was very cute.  I missed out there.

I heard that and found nothing racist about it.  Must have a chip on your shoulder to think so.  It was a parady of the president.  I heard hundreds of them about W.  We have to get over this stuff and just be people.  I hear WOP jokes all the time.  I take them as they are, Jokes.

Actually it was the Republican party that freed the slaves.

The Republican party promoted and won voting rights for the Blacks.

The Republican party was with M.L.K. during the freedom marches.

The Dems simply won the Blacks over with free givaways in the late 60’s early 70’s.

By and large the black community, I think is very conservative and are smart.  They fully understand the current political environment.

If you try to fool them or any of us you will be/ or will find yourself sorry.

When is the Republican party going to lear that these types of slurs are only hurting their party and really letting the world know what the party really stands for.

What up with the GOP and racisim. The GOP has had a bad reputation for being racist for years. For the life of me I can’t see why any person of color, white being excluded here though white also is a color, would claim to be a Republican. If the GOP doesn’t get it’s act together and get rid of these racist people with-in the party it will futher desolve and fade from existance.

I think Ms. Goforth should be reassigned to chair a sensitivity training program for our state legislation members and staff.  We’ve had several state political racial tones that has given us national shame.
